The Horizontal Skyscraper Is as Long as the Empire State Is Tall

Designed by Steven Holl, the massive 1,296,459-square-foot Horizontal Skyscraper floats above the surface using just eight legs. To give you an idea of how impressive this is: The building’s as long as the Empire State Building is tall.

But unlike the Empire State, the Horizontal Skyscraper - Vanke Center only reaches 114 feet up in the air, “blending” with its surroundings, literally reflected on the large pools that decorate the tropical garden under it. Behind its long glass windows you will have panoramic views of the sea in front of it and the mountains behind it.

The Vanke Center contains a hotel, commercial/office space, and a residential area. By the looks of it, you will not find any Foxconn factory employee in any of those parts. [ArchDaily]
